The water ram pumps the water from the bottom of the valley to all the houses of our farm. We have never had any other water supply.
Friedrich Johanson built and constructed the water pump to equip his farm with water.
The pump has been in operation since 1939 and strikes water at a height of 30 meters, 5m3 of water per day. It is a device in which a hydraulic stroke is used to raise water. Hydraulic stroke is the pressure variation due to the rapid change in the pipe.
The pump is easy to construct and it works automatically. The water ramp does not require maintenance and it is resistant. It can raise water higher than 50 meters. It is suitable when the existing water supply exceeds the water requirement and the device can be placed below the lower tank (source). Water rams are used in agriculture, supplying small buildings with water, etc.
