Tindioru Tourist Farm is situated on the shore of the beautiful Rõuge primeval valley. Here you can enjoy the beauty of the most wonderful place in Estonia, see the unique pumps in the valley that have been providing locals with water about three generations, walk in the Nightingale Valley and take a route to the hiking track of Rõuge primeval valley which runs by the side of the deepest lake in Rõuge called Rõuge Suurjärv.
For many years, people have come here to see famous water pumps and magnificent nature. In 1938, Friedrich Johanson built his farm here. In addition to the farm, he built a hydroelectric power station in 1942 with hydraulic dams that work until today and a water pump with unique construction that pumps water to the entire Tindioru farm. In the farm, right now, there are living Friedrich Johanson’s children and grandchildren who are engaged in tourism. The second hydraulic ram in Tindioru, a double-valved hydraulic ram, was built by Jüri Johanson in 2002. It pumps 12,000 liters of water a day to a hillside at a height of 30 meters. The non-used water, however, is spilled like a fountain to the ponds.
